Odaiba - an artificial island located in the middle of Tokyo Bay. Apart from the seaport, there are lots of other interesting places, like museums, lunapark, Fuji Television Headquarters and many other.

To get to Odaiba's periphery take Rinkai line. From that point you have to use local railway - fully automatic (no driver), single track Yurikamome line.

National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation (MeSci) is a must see. That's the one in the shape of an iron.

A huge globe appears right after entering the building. On the screens covering the whole surface of the globe, real time satellite view of the Earth is being projected.

KAZ - electric car 1.7 times more efficient than conventional ones. Carbon dioxide emission is only 1/3 the amount of the regular pollution.
The car achieves speed of 322 km/h and drives on the range of 300 km on fully charged batteries. Unfortunately the turning radius is 8.6 meter wide.

None of this pipes and wires can fail, no valve can jam. Space shuttle engine must be 100% reliable as people's lives depend on it directly. The cost of making one of those is... hell of a lot of dollars. Still, it can be used only once.

Bathyscaphe Shinkai 6500 is able to dive 6500 meters below the sea level, like the name suggests. In 1989 the boat went down to 6527 meters which is more than any bathyscaphe with live crew did ever before.
Huge titanium sphere with 120 mm thick walls protects the scientists from tremendous pressure.

Traveling in such conditions isn't any good for someone who suffers from claustrophobia.

- Good day, ladies and gentelmen. My name is ASIMO.
Japanese like no other nation obstinately try to build an android - humanoid robot.
ASIMO project is nothing new anymore, but still impressive. The robot walks firmly, dances and sings.

The robotic history goes back to the seventies, when primitive machines tried to take their first walk. Serious effort of many teams have been taken since then. Today the area of development still seems to be quiet primitive. How difficult can it be?

In medical area everyone can try to remove tumor surgically. Sometimes operations are being carried out remotely (also via Internet), with huge distance between patient and surgeon.
I made it! The tumor is removed, patient safe. Does it really take six years of study to be ready to do that?

This is the area of illusions. Pentaprism built in the binoculars turns the image upside-down. The task helps us notice some of the differences between masculine and feminine brain. This time - in favour of the last.
The task is to guide the stick through one of the holes in a plastic disc. Men find this task considerably easy. If you move the stick up and it goes down, your brain will adopt and make appropriate corrections.
On the other hand, it seems to be much harder for women. That's why the nature made men responsible for aiming for holes. (The Author deeply believes this information wouldn't be taken as an offence to women).
Another example of cheating on our senses could be the dissonance between our hearing and seeing. At this stand three buttons start three different movies shown on the monitor above. One of them shows a woman saying "ka". The second - "ka". And here's the trick - the third shows the same woman moving her lips like she was saying "ga" while the sound is "ka". Our brain finds very difficult to determine which syllable is actually being spoken!

Superconductivity demonstrations - at the temperature close to absolute zero, electric resistance almost doesn't exist. That relates to specific magnetic phenomenon called The Meissner Effect used in levitating Maglev trains.

These robots were designed to keep company to the ill. They react to human voice and move. But who would agree to this kind of companions?

Fuji Television Headquarters - the biggest television station in Japan. Apart from continuously made programs there is a museum inside.

I felt like appearing in a show for children. Why not?

The Rainbow Bridge is a 918 meters long suspended construction. On the right - copy of the Statue of Liberty.
One of the ways to achieve success in production is starting it with copying others, which the Japanese had perfected over the years.
Today, it is Japanese products that are copied all over the world.

Odaiba is known for it's romantic settings which makes it very popular among young Japanese.
Demand generates supply - there was no natural sandy beach in Tokyo so they made it artificially (it isn't nothing extraordinary today considering artificial islands built in Dubay).

Shop window - what do they sell here?

Near the beach (1-6-1 Decks Tokyo Beach), in one of the buildings a human-scale model of traditional Japanese street was reconstructed. All the details were taken care of, so strolling down the street takes you back to the old times.

Many interesting things can be found there. Old arcade games, candy shops and toys are only few to mention.

After a short walk I decide to visit the horror house.
The ticket lady explains the task - I have to take a red button with me and put it into a red handbag hidden somewhere in the labirynth.
But beware of little girl's ghost (obake) wandering around the maze! If I hear her footsteps the only way to save my life is to run like hell!

I grab the torch and get inside. Dark, narrow hallway gives me shivers. Old ripped rags hanging everywhere, corpses on the walls. I got a feeling I'm walking on something funny... soft. When I pass by the metal cabinet, some infernal device switches on and makes terrible noise. I don't feel as confident as i was before.

After a little while I find my way to the corridor covered in half with veil. I hear thin voice coming from behind it saying:
- Help me, help me!
Maybe someone came here before me, had lost his way and couldn't find the way out? Maybe he has a heart problem. I ask:
- Are you allright?
The voice continues:
- Help me!
I come closer, move the curtain...
BOOO!!! The ghost jumps right at me!
I don't see much, the figure is about four feet tall, black hair cover her eyes. I run terrified.
I continue to search my way out of here until the hallway closes with three doors. One of them leads to the left, one to the right, and one - straight ahead. I slightly ajar the door just to see the same ghost at my feet! I run away hearing pit-a-pat right behind me.

Finally I find a small, poorly lit altair with the red bag on it. I leave the button and go to the exit. When I know I'm almost out, the scary feet come again! The impetus makes me pound the door and roll out of the maze.

What an adventure! Who the girl was? I know but I won't tell. Her ghost will possibly prowl dark alleys and frighten other tourists forever.

Masami visits a fortune teller to find out about her future.

Reconstruction of an old shop.

"Please don't touch. The piece is very expensive!"

Fifties toys replicas. Even though the originals are priced at thousands of yens, there are still a lot of people keen buy them.

Old subaru. Compared to modern types it reminds more of a toy than a real car.
